equipment
Reading tim's post, i felt disturbed by the fact that the juniors aren't taking proper care of the equipment. Already, the club doesn't really have the school's support and we are running on a very very tight budget. we do not have the budget to buy new paddles, new kayaks.. nope.. so we have to take care of the equipment we currently have. An extra scratch on a pedal or on a canoe will reduce it's performance on the water. Bear in mind that we will be racing in the canoes we are using now. We have to ensure that equipment is stored safetly and handled with care.We can't afford to damage anymore canoes or paddles.
Juniors, here are three reasons as to why you should take great care in handling your crafts/paddles
1. The equipment is NOT yours. It belongs to the club and we are just borrowing it. If a pedal or a canoe belongs to you, go ahead and scratch it for all i care. You can even use the paddle to dig your garden. BUT, the equipment that you are using now belongs to the club and if my parents taught me correctly, if you borrow something from someone, you should take good care of it and ensure that it doesn't get damaged.
2. By damaging the paddle, you are showing open disrespect to the sport as paddles or canoes are essential accessories in the sport. Also, it clearly shows what type of person you are.
3. You will be racing in these canoes or with these paddles so obviously u want to take good care of it. You don't want to go into a competition with a canoe full of holes or row with a paddle which has full of scratches.
So, guys... please take care of the equipment. You guys aren't the only one using it.
Have a nice day.

Hello everyone.. My name is Wilfred, i was from AC.. and am currently dboating in NTU ...
Simply put… the era of the “legendry grand (super) seniors” is OVER ! listen up and listen good.
What’s the point of placing a glass ceiling above your heads?seriously........
Oh that senior could do 30-40 chin ups…. He could run 2.4 in 8mins30 seconds, he could frigging jump over the moon … so what ?
DON’T MAKE IT YOUR SELF LIMITING BELIEF like oh I could never be as good as him… because that is where the “fall” starts…..
Rather take it as a challenge…. I will be faster than him , stronger than him, etc etc….
This is the only way the standard will improve.. or else you’ll just be stagnant, while other teams are flying high in the sky …. …..
Guys … put it this way .. using a convenient example……NJC can be beaten … it just needs a dedicated team, strong, united, and above all .. don’t give a damn abt other team’s reputations . i.e. respect them as a strong team, but do not fear them … don’t look at them and think we’ll never beat them… this is where many teams fail….
Ever seen a T1 overtake and beat a K1… I did it…. Caused them to take a deep breath, re-evaluate their performance, and forced them to train harder….
But I got cocky.. and got stagnant… they came back stronger and faster.. I was still at that level…. It felt like crap to lose to them….
guys.. you must remember this.. it is not a crime to be better, fitter, faster than your seniors. the term senior is there , cuz they have at most 12 months more experience than u ... so what ? take them.. or else its a downward spiral for the club...
respect your seniors, cuz they have the experience….. but do not act as if what they have achieved is something that you cannot….they are human too ……
one thing my coach told me… it doesn’t matter if a rower has 6 packs, 8 packs, 12 packs, biceps like a rugby ball, etc etc.... I don’t give a damn .. once I go in the water I will make them eat my backwash…. That is the attitude to take.
Sorry if this sounds abit incoherent.. I’m just typing whatever comes to my mind now…..in the meanwhile i wish you all the best for your prep for the races in july, and maybe i'll pop by to visit you guys one of these days.......

Yup... i agree to wilfred on it.. Remember i always tell you what i did in my year about the records and stuff.. Well my aim was never to say my batch is the best or whatsoever but rather to give you guys something to aim for..
I remember my time when we hit 88sets on a nice quiet monday trg.. it was after Mr See was telling us how many sets he did and so on... and my dear captain(u can really call him Capt Foo haha) decided to go for it.. AND we DID IT altogether though it took kinda long.. So ladies and gentlemen, something to aim for..
Regarding the equipment, yup.. take good care of them.. each paddle cost $465 each kayak cost $1k+ Ts ard 800--.. But after being used by all the ex-rowers they have become really priceless so do take care of them.. Beware of ANT, Mr See's darling.. =)
Well juniors seems like lots of stuff put on you guys.. all these is just the knowledge we wanna pass down.. Now just concentrate on your terms ya? ;)
